Best Shoulder Exercises

One of my favorite workout is shoulders which I don’t like to miss. Do you know boys that girls get attracted by boulder shoulders. Why? because guys look sexy & strong with muscular shoulders & girls feel that men with boulder shoulders can protect them from what ever comes to them in the shape of evil. Sometimes it even works as a turn on factor, this was told to me by my ex girl friend. Hmmm started thinking something else!!!!!. Lets come back and stay focused on best shoulder exercises to make your Hmmmm TRUE !!!!

The shoulders are important muscle and most widely used in the upper body in my opinion. Still many people are not able to have broad shoulders. Reason can be diet and right set of exercises.

One should choose lean protein from sources like chicken, lean beef (for people outside India), fish, egg whites and whey protein. Have complex carbs from sources like brown rice, sweet potatoes, barley and oatmeal. You will still need fruits and veggies. To have healthy fats, consume flax seeds, fish oil, avocado, nuts and natural nut butter (in a moderate amount or depending upon your goal) post workout.

Shoulders Deltoids

Posterior Head
  • Function: Extension, Lateral Rotation
  • Location: Back of the shoulder
Middle Head
  • Function: Abduction
  • Location: Middle/Side of the shoulder
Anterior Head
  • Function: Flexion, Medial Rotation
  • Location: Front portion of the shoulder girdle

Rear Delt Fly

  • Refer pic for positioning
  • Helps in developing and strengthening the posterior deltoid
  • Do 3 – 4 sets with 8 – 10 reps.
  • It should be hard to lift weights in 8th rep which means that weight lifted was heavy and you could only perform 8 reps. Muscle gain mass and fat loss will be at higher rate

Seated Military press

  • Refer pic for positioning
  • Helps in developing and strengthening the anterior deltoid
  • Do 3 – 4 sets with 8 – 10 reps

Arnold Press

  • Do 4 sets with 8 – 10 reps

Single Arm Incline Lateral Raise

  • Do 3 – 4 sets with 8 – 10 reps

Cable Lateral Raise

  • Switch the shoulders and do 3 – 4 sets with 8 – 10 reps

Alternating Front Raise

  • Helps in developing and strengthening the anterior deltoid
  • Do 3 – 4 sets with 8 – 10 reps
