What is Body Mass Index ?
Body mass index measures your body fat in relation with your height & weight .
BMI of 25 is an international cut-off for healthy body & weight which can no longer be applied to Indians or other South Asians.
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has said that the BMI cut off for Asians should be 23 particularly south Asian, population comprising Indians, Bangladeshis and Pakistanis are more vulnerable to diabetes even with a lower BMI. Doctor say BMI of 23 should set alarm for Indians & South Asians.
How To Lower Down Your Body Mass Index
Power lifters or pro body builders train like power lifters or pro body builders. If your goal is muscle mass, you must utilize a mass building resistance training program that maximizes your particular set of genetics. However if your goal is to have fat loss or weight loss then your training & nutrition program should not match the training & nutrition program of mass building. Fat Loss & weight loss can be achieved by having high protein diet mixed with low carbs diet along with cardio & strength training.
Both Men & Women
Underweight : BMI less than 18.5
Normal Weight : BMI 18.5 – 24.9
Overweight : 25 – 29.9
Obese : 30 or more
How Body Mass Index is calculated ?
Convert your weight in KG and divide it by height in meter. Answer should further be divided by height (in meter) . For example weight is 75.5 KG and height is 1.73736 meter. BMI is 24.8
