Losing Weight With Hypothyroidism
No weight loss or struggling with weight loss is a pain for every individual who is dealing with severe Hypothyroidism. Low BMR is not so dramatic in Hypothyroidism then the drama what Hypothyroidism plays in one’s life. This is my belief as I have always seen my friend’s wife stressed and frustrated. Do not lose hope. Lets understand types of thyroid and then explore the ways of losing weight with Hypothyroidism. I collected the information by speaking to an expert.
Types Of Thyroid
Hypothyroidism affects women more than men in comparison and gets worse as one becomes older. This also needs to be tackled during pregnancy. Though there are other causes as well which can lead to a condition but it majorly happens if one is suffering from under active thyroid or glands that simply controls the thyroid functions.
In this particular condition there is always an overdrive of the thyroid hormone in the blood owing to an over active thyroid gland that as well secretes the hormones in abundance. People with Hyperthyroidism can also gain weight provided they do not keep track on there calories & food they eat.
Ways To Lose Weight
Hypothyroidism, your under active thyroid gland plays a role for weight gain. We need to find out the ways to battle with it. The only solution is to have healthy foods, controlled portion sizes, and regular exercise. Lets understand properly.
Gluten is found in wheat, rye, barley and any foods made with these grains. Wheat is by far the most commonly consumed. The two main proteins in Gluten are Glutenin and Gliadin. Gliadin is responsible for most of the negative health effects. Try avoiding wheat based flours and ingredients or have it in less amount and that it to be in the start of a day so that it is burnt out completely by the end of the day.
Cut Out Simple Carbohydrates & Sugar
There are two types of carbohydrates (Simple & Complex). Simple carbs have simple molecular structure and are found in foods like table sugar (sucrose) , milk (lactose), fruits (fructose) & complex carbs are also made up of sugars but they are stung together to form bigger & more complex chains. Not all simple carbs are bad. Simple carbs from fruits and milk are healthy. Fruits and (fresh) fruit juices are healthy and packed with minerals and vitamins, it is probably best to eat it them in moderation for weight loss in the breakfast or before lunch. Complex carbs such as vegetables are superior food source for weight loss. In complex carbs have green vegetables, beans, lentils, legumes & peas. Avoid Candy, Cola, Beer & Whisky completely.
Eat Anti Inflammatory Food
Hypothyroidism results in joint aches, pains and depression & anti inflammatory foods can cure the same . Leafy green vegetables, fatty fish, nuts, tomatoes & olive oil are all best foods to battle inflammation. Anti-inflammatory foods can help soothe the immune system, which is often quite bad in people with Hypothyroidism.
Have Small & Frequent Meals
Having balanced macro nutrients frequently and in small portions can help to result in weight loss. Balanced macro nutrients includes quality proteins, complex carbs and healthy fats. Eating small & frequent meals will kill the craving to have heavy meal and at the same time will consume energy to digest food which will result in burning calories.
Do Cardio & Strength Training
Keeping your body moving with the help of cardio & strength training helps in weight & fat loss. At least workout for 1 hour in gym. In case you can’t go to gym then either do cycling or running for 30 minutes or can think for High Intensity Interval Training program as well for losing weight with hypothyroidism.
Take Thyroid Medicines
Do not skip your medicines and take it as advised by your doctor.
